Neil Wainwright

Two Blue Square Premier sides are chasing former Darlington and Morecambe winger Neil Wainwright.

Wainwright was released from Morecambe this summer and is thought to be in discussions with both Barrow and Gateshead. Gateshead appears to have the edge currently mainly due to location although Wainwright has been based in the North West for the past couple of years so Barrow cannot be written off as a potential destination.

The player is due to go away on holiday soon, so any deal either needs to be wrapped up quickly or will have to wait until he returns.

Fleetwood Town will sign fellow Blue Square Premier side York City's midfielder Peter Till once his contract runs out this summer.

He will sign a two year deal at Highbury and was sdaid to be very pleased to be joining a club with such clear ambition to get into the Football League.

Bath City Sign Midfielder

Blue Square Premier side Bath City have today signed experienced centre midfielder Gary Mills on a 1 year contract. Mills signs on a free transfer following his release from Rushden & Diamonds.

The former Rushden player has had 3 seperate spells at Nene Park and has also played for Crawley Town, Stevenage, Mansfield Town, Tamworth and Forest Green Rovers.

Stevenson Joins Stags

It was announced on Friday night that Lee Stevenson has followed former manager Paul Cox by signing for Mansfield Town.

Stevenson scored 96 goals from midfield over the last 3 seasons for Eastwood Town, including 35 last season.

He had been attracting much interest and had spent a day at York City assessing the setup at the Yorkshire club, however location and the lure of working for former boss Cox was too much and the deal was clinched late Friday evening.

Interestingly, this story has not broke through any official channels yet, it was announced by the clubs CEO at an after season dinner but since then there appears to be total silence which is leading to wild speculation.

As Stevenson was under contract its likely a fee was involved, though the amount has not been disclosed as of yet. - EDIT: This transfer was confirmed the following day - See Here

Mansfield Town are also thought to be chasing another Eastwood player, Lindon Meikle is expected to sign for the Stags within the next few days.

Kidderminster Opt For Williams

Kidderminster Harriers have signed striker Marc Williams following his release from Wrexham.

Williams will be familar to the Harriers faithful having been on loan with the club for 3 months last season, where he scored 3 goals in 17 appearances.

Williams has spent his entire career at Wrexham up until this move however he will be happy to be in familiar surroundings and back at Aggborough.

Michael Cummins Joins Gateshead

Michael Cummins has signed for Blue Square Premier team Gateshead on a free transfer.

Midfielder Cummins was released by Grimsby Town last week and has fixed himself up with a new club quickly. Gateshead manager Ian Bogie had worked with Cummins whilst at Port Vale and he was delighted to be reunited with the player.

Mansfield Town full back Gary Silk is a transfer target for fellow Blue Square Premier side Grimsby Town it has emerged.  The right back has not been offered a new contract at Field Mill as of yet, although with a change of manager recently happening all new deals have been delayed while the squad is assessed.

Silk was the fans player of the season during the 2009/2010 campaign but never really met his own high standards during last term and he may see this season as the right time to move onto pastures new.

Paul Green who was recently released from Lincoln City following their relegation is thought to be attracting interest from 3 Blue Square Premier sides including the Mariners.

Grimsby Town, who tabelled interest in the player last season and York City are thought to be the front runners chasing the player, however Mansfield Town are also closely monitoring the situation.

The Birmingham born player can play anywhere across the backline or in midfield and is sure to be an asset for any of those chasing teams.

Luke Jones Rejoins Kidderminster

Luke Jones has rejoined former club Kidderminster Harriers on a 1 year contract following his release from Forest Green Rovers just a few days ago.

The Harriers moved fast to secure the signing of popular player Jones who was thought to be interesting a couple of other teams in the Blue Square Premier. The move back to his former team was always his preferred choice and he is obviously delighted at returning to the club.

Former Eastwood Town manager Paul Cox is expected to be presented as the new manager of Blue Square Premier side Mansfield Town today.

Interviews were conducted earlier this week and it is thought Cox made the final 3 shortlisted names. His record at Eastwood Town was very good and it is most likely this that has tipped the balance in his favour.

Jim Gannon Favourite For Stockport Job

Former manager Jim Gannon is currently leading the race to be appointed manager of Blue Square Premier side Stockport County.

Gannon had a fantastically successful spell in charge of the club in the recent past, however since then both he and the club have slipped down the leagues.

Other managers linked to the job have been Mike Newell, Ray Mathias, Sammy McIllroy and Jim Harvey. It is thought that Gannon is a clear favourite and in the fans eyes an ideal choice, it is all about whether Gannon can agree terms and get over any differences he may have with the clubs owners.

If he can then this could be a chance to ressurect Stockport County and set about getting back Football League status.

Graeme Lee a Target for the Imps?

Notts County have confirmed that central defender Graeme Lee is not being offered a new contract at Meadow Lane.

It is thought that Lincoln City will revive interest in the player after coming close to signing him last January before injury problems for Notts County caused the deal to be called off.

Lincoln will face fierce competition for his signature with Mansfield Town and Darlington thought to be interested, Lee is likely to prefer to stay in the football league and it will be up to Lincoln boss Steve Tilson to persuade him to drop two divisions to join the Blue Square Premier outfit.

Hayes and Yeading Boss Could Be Moving On

Garry Haylock, the manager of Blue Square Premier team Hayes and Yeading could be leaving the club.

He has been linked with the current vacancies at fellow Blue Square Premier teams Mansfield Town, Tamworth, newly promomted Braintree Town and even the position at AFC Wimbledon should they fail to get promotion.

Having worked wonders on a shoe-string budget at Hayes and Yeading, he is regarded as a good, up and coming managerial talent and it is suspected that he will be offered a position at a larger reputation club sooner rather than later.

Andy Mangan a Target for Shrewsbury Town?

Blue Square Premier side Wrexham are thought to be facing a battle to keep striker Andy Mangan at the club.

Shrewsbury Town are believed to be very interested in aquiring the services of the former Forest Green Rovers marksman, the temptation of playing in the football league is sure to appeal to Mangan.

Should Mangan leave The Racecourse ground then Wrexham will be keen to find a suitable replacement. One player it won't be is Richard Brodie, despite being linked with the Welsh club he, this morning, signed for Blue Square Premier rivals Fleetwood Town.

A possible signing however could be Brodie's former Crawley Town team mate Craig McAllister who would be available on a free transfer following his release last week.

Lincoln City Keen On Former Keeper Marriott

Lincoln City are thought to be watching with interest the managerial goings on at Field Mill, home of Mansfield Town.

This is not because of any affilliation to their Blue Square Premier rivals, it is because they are monitoring the situation and seeing if a new manager will wish to change playing staff at the North Nottinghamshire club, in particular former Imps goalkeeper Alan Marriott.

When asked for his thoughts about a return to Sincil Bank, Marriott simply said never say never, it is clear that should he become surplus to requirements then he would relish the return to Lincoln City.

Watch this space.

Richard Brodie Joins Fleetwood Town

Fleeywood Town today sent out a message to rival Blue Square Premier teams with the capture of Crawley Town striker Richard Brodie on a seasons long loan deal.

Brodie had struggled to break into the first team at Crawley and was made available for transfer, Fleetwood have moved fast to secure a deal and at the same time have shown they are going full tilt at promotion next season.

The news will come as a disappointment to Darlington, Wrexham and Grimsby Town who were also said to be interested in the pacey forward.

Forest Green Rovers Eye Former Captain

Forest Green Rovers are keen on re-signing former left back and captain Paul Stonehouse on a free transfer. Hard working left back Stonehouse, is available following his recent release from Mansfield Town where he spent just one season.

Stonehouse is thought to be weighing up the move and is said to be very tempted by the switch back to his former club and being nearer to his home.

Four follow Chris Senior Out of Darlington

Four more players have been told that the do not have a future at Darlington and will not be offered new contracts.

Chris Moore, Josh Gray, Kevin Austin and Gareth Waite have been told that they are not in manager Mark Coopers plans for the next season.

Meanwhile, Darlington have been strongly linked with a move for Crawley Town hitman Richard Brodie who has been made available for transfer by his manager Steve Evans.

Cambridge United Sign Tom Shaw

Cambridge United have clinched the Signing of Tom Shaw from fellow Blue Square Premier side Kidderminster Harriers.

The former Rushden & Daimonds and Mansfield Town utility man has signed a two year contract, Shaw featured regularly for Kidderminster last season mainly in his preferred central midfield role but is also equally adept at playing right back.

Wayne Curtis Moving To Barrow?

Barrow AFC are considering offering terms to former Morecambe, Fleetwood and indeed Barrow forward Wayne Curtis.

Curtis has been told he is not being offered a new deal at Fleetwood Town and could be in line for a permanent move to back Barrow where he had been on loan from January until the end of the season.

Fleetwood Town, Who is the Expected Major Signing?

As aluded to by their officail website, Fleetwood Town are due to announce a major signing this week. Mystery surrounds the identity of this player though my sources say that the signing will either be Craig McAllister or Richard Brodie from Crawley Town.

Former Exeter City player Craig McAllister has been told his future lies elsewhere following a breakdown in contract negotiations, Richard Brodie has been told he is surplus to requirements and is available for transfer. Richard Brodie is thought to be interesting a number of Blue Square Premier teams including Grimsby Town, Darlington and Wrexham.

Crawley Town Alert Clubs To Brodie Availability

Crawley Town have today made Richard Brodie available for transfer, The former York City striker has many admirers amongst the Blue Squaer Premiers teams and already there is thought to be interest from Grimsby Town, Wrexham, Fleetwood Town and FA Trophy winners Darlington.

Brodie gained a reputation at York City of being a versatille player with good pace and a very keen eye for goal. He moved to Crawley Town for in the region of £275,000, and has struggled at times to break into the first team due to the exceptional form of the other strikers at Crawley Towns disposal.

It remains to be seen whether any league clubs take a punt on Brodie, but if not then there wont be any shortage of Blue Square Premier takers.

Lincoln Prepare for Life in Blue Square Premier

Relegated League two side Lincoln City today started to plan for life in the Blue Square Premier Division by releasing a whole glut of players.

Manager Steve Tilson has decided to dispense with the services of nine players that were part of the squad that got relegated on the last day of the season.

Those players who are not being retained are Joe Anderson, Drewe Broughton, Jamie Clapham, Delroy Facey, Paul Green, Cian Hughton, Patrick Kanyuka, Clark Keltie and Scott Spencer.

Stevenson Interests Alfreton Town

Eastwood Town midfielder Lee Stevenson is believed to be attracting interest from new Blue Square Premier side Alfreton Town.

Part time postman Stevenson, is believed to prefer a shot at full time football but maybe tempted by the chance to play in the Blue Square Premier. As part of the Eastwood Town side denied participation in the playoffs this year due to their ground not being up to the required standard, he may still get the chance to play Blue Square Premier.

Having scored 36 goals from midfield this season, it's likely that Afreton Town could face stiff competition for his signature from other Blue Square Premier teams including Tamworth and Mansfield Town

Mansfield Town Seek New Manager

Mansfield Town today start the search for a new manager.

It had been widely expected that they would extend caretaker manager Duncan Russells stay at the helm of the Blue Square Premier team, however following a board meeting on Tuesday evening a sensational U-Turn was performed.

Russell said goodbye to the players this morning and his assistant Paul Hall will take temporary charge while the search for a new manager begins.

Richard Walker Tempts Blue Square Premier Teams

Richard Walker, recently released by League two side Burton Albion, is thought to be in contact with two Blue Square Premier sides about a contract for next season.

Kidderminster Harriers and Kettering Town are rumoured to be in discussions with the 33 year old forward who scored 5 goals in 35 appearances for the Brewers, Walker is better remembered for his prolific spell whilst at Bristol Rovers where he was partnered by Ricky Lambert before moving onto Shrewsbury and then Burton Albion.

Mansfield Town to Appoint Manager and Sign Knight?

It is rumoured that Blue Square Premier side Mansfield Town are on the verge of appointing Duncan Russell as manager on a permanent basis and are also very close to signing Coleraine striker Leon Knight.

Duncan Russell and Leon Knights agent have a close personal friendship and this should help smooth any deal for the former Chelsea, Brighton, MK Dons and Rushden hitman.

Knight scored 18 goals for Coleraine in the Irish Premier division this season and finished as the teams top scorer, he was recently linked with FA Trophy winners Darlington and fellow Blue Square Premier side York City.

The expected appointment of Duncan Russell will put to bed any doubts about his future, Russell had been in tempoary charge of the Stags for the last 6 months, since David Holdsworth left by mutual consent following a run of poor results.  His contract expired after the 1-0 extra time FA Trophy defeat to Darlington on Saturday and there were doubts as to whether he would be offered an extension to his previous deal, this news appears to suggest that he will get next season at the helm.

It is thought that the Knight transfer and Duncan Russells appointment will be confirmed at a press conference scheduled for this Thursday.
